Questions

1.) What is meant by the genre of a film? The meaning behind the genre is to satisfy the viewer. To help them imagine what is to come, figure out whether they are willing to watch it or not, to make a choice. 2.) How might the color scheme of the poster be related to the mood or theme of a film? The colour scheme helps depict how the movie will be presented. For example, the bright colouring on the V for Vendetta poster tells the viewer that there will be something bright in the movie, like.... I don't know.... Fire? 3.) For each of the following examples, guess the genre, theme and mood of the film, based on the poster graphic and colors. V for Vendetta: -Genre: Thriller, Action, and/or Suspense -Theme: Watch what you say and do to others, you could get burned in the end. -Mood: Tragic and upsetting Sweeney Todd: -Genre: Horror, Suspense, Thriller -Theme: Don't mess with the unknown. -Mood: Dark, horrific and frightening Black Swan: -Genre: Horror, Suspense -Theme: Don't judge a book by its cover. -Mood: Heart clenching (in a bad way...) The Proposal: -Genre: Comedy, Romance, Drama -Theme: "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get." (Best way to describe it.) -Mood: Happy, giddy, joyful, sarcastic, satirical The U.S vs John Lennon: -Genre: History, Drama -Theme: Greatness cannot be driven out of a man. -Mood: Stressful, loving, nostalgic Bee Movie: -Genre: Comedy, Family -Theme: You can't change history. -Mood: Upbeat 4.) For each of the movie posters shown above, what does the depiction of the character(s) on the poster lead you to understand about the story being told in the film? V for Vendetta: A man is acting as an activist or anarchist, based on the mask that he is wearing. And a woman looking for a way to let out her anger. Sweeney Todd: The man on the cover makes the movie look like it's about a very murderous man that can't control himself when it comes to the "art" of killing people. Black Swan: From the picture, it is about a woman. A single woman. A woman that could very possibly be evil, because black symbolizes darkness and evil. The Proposal: It looks like and executive and a very attractive man acting as a couple. (I love this movie so I'm trying not to spoil it...) The U.S vs John Lennon: It's about John Lennon.... I don't know what else to say. Bee Movie: A bee that thinks that he is better than everyone and/or thing else. 5.) What similarities can you identify in the font styles used for A) Film Titles, B) Tag Lines and C) talent and production credits? What differences? A.) They all use the same format. All of the lettering is large and legible. B.) All near the titles, if there is a tagline. C.) They are all well done and very good Differences: They are all differently unique. 6.) For each layout, identify whether the layout is symmetrical or asymmetrical, balanced or unbalanced. Are the text elements symmetrical or asymmetrical? The graphic elements

DSO #6: Photo Manipulation

THESE ARE ALL PHOTOS TAKEN AND MANIPULATED BY RUBERMAN RODRIGUEZ. HE IS A PHOTOGRPHER THAT DOESN'T THINK PHOTOGRAPHY SHOULD BE EXACT. I LOOK UP TO HIM AND TAKE LOTS OF INSPIRATION FROM HIS BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS AND PUT IT INTO MY OWN ART. HERE IS A LITTLE BIT FROM HIS WEB PAGE, ruberman.com (Which I found all of these beautiful manipulations at). "When I was little, I thought I would gain super powers at a certain age. I believed in angels and thought I would possess the power to fly. I believed in evil. I am in no way a traditional photographer. I use various mediums of editing within the photo to create my final piece. I am not here to show reality, nor do my photos portray it. Within each piece shows a different parallel world within our own world. One that is only accessible through imagination. Ones imagination that has been corrupted, with the vision of a child. The characters I portray in my photos define me as a whole. The exterior is nothing. We show very little of who we are and how we think. The only way to show that hidden emotion is though art its self. From murder, to horror, to depression, to love, to betrayal, to fantasy, each holds a piece of me. Asides from my portraiture, I photograph animals and redefine what a photo of an animal looks like. Each has their own set of characteristics and colors, to portray a certain painterly feel." -Ruberman Rodriguez HERE ARE THE PICTURES:
